THE RADAVIST

February 5, 2015

John Watson (Radavist.com) rode with us to document the routes for Eroica California.  To our surprise he rode a vintage steel Eddy Merckx bike on the route with his pro level camera, with a huge lens.
We did have a support vehicle, but he insisted on riding his bike often sprinting out in front of us to position himself to take that perfect shot. His photos are evident here http://theradavist.com/2015/02/wine-olive-oil-dirt-glory-120-miles-leroica-california/#1 on the website, as most of the images are his work from this photo shoot.

Upon arrival he was immediately drawn to the bikes we were to ride for the photo shoot and showed great enthusiasm toward the vintage bicycles.
He made a comment saying that he did not wish to take photos that are “set up” like they do in the studios. He wanted us to ride the route and take real images of us riding the route. We respected that statement and we knew we chose the right person to represent the images of the ride.  The results were just amazing.
There is no CG technology here. You are looking at the images as it happened. So what you see here is what you will see when you come to ride the route. Of course the weather and season will play a part in the look of the surroundings. These images were taken in the middle of winter (February) here in California.  You can imagine what the area will look like in the spring.  Thank you John for taking these wonderful images for us!
