Course Profile - Olea Farm and Halter Ranch
There are so many things that make Eroica California different than just about any other event out there. One of those things is the renowned rest stops. Both Olea Farm and Halter Ranch have proven to be popular stops in the first two editions of Eroica California, and we’re happy to be returning to both once again this year.
Olea Farms sits atop one of the many rolling hills that Eroica riders will encounter early and often. Accessing the olive oil farm is a challenge in itself, as the nearly 1-kilometer long gravel driveway will have you searching for an easier gear to get up the steep pitch. Once there, you’ll be immersed in the olive grove and believe you are actually in Tuscany. Fresh made french fries with Olea Farm Olive Oil will be served, along with bananas laid out on an antique flatbed truck. Olea Farm is the second stop, coming at mile 25, for all routes except for the 85-mile Coastal.
By the time you reach Halter Ranch you’ll be more than ready to take a break and enjoy a few minutes of relaxation on the historic ranch site that dates back to the 1880s. The stop comes at nearly the mid-way point for the Heroic route, and is part of all routes other than the 35-mile Short route. Tables will be set up inside a beautiful barn to offer some shade while you enjoy wine from Halter Ranch’s own vineyard. The famous Tuscan soup, ribollita, will also be served to keep you fueled for the challenging climb up Cypress Mountain Road that lies ahead.
